Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a Loan Financial Service Representative to join us. The person in this position will report to the Loan Center Manager.

 

Job Summary:
Assists in the processing of loan activity by performing the following duties and clerical functions:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts interviews to obtain personal and financial data in order to enter into loan processing system.
  • Prepares complete loan applications, which include gathering information on application and credit report that will assist the underwriter in making final loan decisions.
  • Assists in the preparation of credit information necessary to establish credit limit, including such factors as applicant’s assets, credit experience and personal references, based on predetermined standards
  • Notifies applicants of loan decision while they wait on the telephone. Uses wait time to cross-sell other products and services. Also evaluates member credit files to look for competitor buy-out opportunities.
  • Keeps records or files of credit transactions, inquiries, loans pending, loan activity. Report by representative and Daily Loan Listing
  • Provides assistance in filing, inputting data to computer, recording information as required, answering telephones, photocopying, faxing, typing letters, etc.
  • Becomes/is an advocate of the Michigan First culture, supporting diversity, philosophy and other credit union initiatives. Fosters a positive image of Michigan First via professional representation in all contacts and complies with all of Michigan First’s mission and vision goals. Reflects each of the credit union’s “Isms” in daily job performance. Learns and utilizes the EMEC way (Every Member’s Experience Counts) in day-to-day responsibilities when communicating with members and team members.
  • Assists team members in efficiently and effectively processing the various activities involved in credit granting, and performs such additional duties as might be assigned from time to time

 

Qualifications

  • Performs functions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintains professional appearance and attitude.
  • Utilizes interpersonal skills effectively in a team environment.
  • Must take a minimum of 12 loan applications per day. Maximum time on phone with members is 18 minutes. Cross-selling and competitor buyout goals will also be set.
  • High school diploma and one to three months’ of related experience and/or training. Experience in a call center environment a plus.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to team members and members of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to operate PC including input, output, and inquiry to member accounts and other account information required in the member service function.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and tools, such as personal computer, postage machine, fax machine, telephones, photocopier, etc.
  • Familiar with the differences in a basic number of products and services offered by other financial institutions to those offered by the credit union
