Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

  • The Human Resources Generalist works on many facets of HR. Duties include payroll/benefit  administration, recruiting/selection, and working on various projects that impact the overall HR objectives and strategy. The ideal candidate is highly organized and can stay on task with minimal supervision.

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Along with the other Human Resources Generalist on the team, process our bi-weekly payroll including, but not limited to: processing pay changes, initiating wire transfers, funding our 401(k) and HSA plans, etc. Participate in the payroll and benefit overview training of new hires.
  • Process team member changes in our HRIS in regard to new hires, promotions/transfers, security access changes, terminations, etc. Create and run ad hoc reports from our HRIS.
  • Contribute to our talent acquisition (recruiting) process, including, but not limited to:
  • Conducts phone screens and provide candidate assessments to hiring leaders
  • Interviews candidates to determine if they meet the needs of the Credit Union and would be a match to our culture
  • Coordinates on-site interviews and evaluations from leaders
  • Assists leaders, with guidance and direction from the HR Manager, in extending offers to candidates both verbally and thru DocuSign
  • Facilitates the internal candidate promotion/transfer process
  • Initiates candidate assessments (pre-hire) and background check and drug testing (post-hire)
  • Ensures transition of new hire through the entire recruiting/selection and onboarding process, including new hire paperwork
  • Ensures required data is captured in our Applicant Tracking System to ensure accurate recordkeeping
  • Assists with benefit administration including processing enrollment changes, reconciling and processing of benefit invoices, FMLA and STD leaves, workers’ compensation, and year-end open enrollment activities.
  • Responds to team member inquiries on various HR matters to ensure their understanding.
  • Respond to Unemployment Insurance Agency correspondence and claims
  • Work to foster a positive work environment for our team members by administering our internal and external team member engagement surveys, recognition program, and 30-, 45-, and 90-day touchpoints.
  • Assists in planning team appreciation events and Team Learning Days
  • Create and execute wellness initiatives
  • Prepares and files reports as required by regulation, Credit Union policy, or benefit providers as required/needed, including EEOC compliance.
  • Creates and edits HR policies, procedures, and job aids for our Knowledge Management System and internal HR team
  • Conduct exit interviews with team members to gain better insight as to our workplace environment, morale, areas we are doing well and areas that need improvement.
  • Identifies and presents ideas to increase efficiencies on the HR Team
  • Assists the HR Manager on various projects, including the annual budget process, annual performance reviews, succession planning, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in Human Resource Development or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of previous HR experience, payroll processing experience required. ADP experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the latest HR trends, best practices, and legal requirements
  • Knowledge of HRIS is required
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required
  • Ability to communicate clearly with team members and team leaders by phone, in person, or through written correspondence
  • Ability to multi-task & handle complex situations, while providing solutions
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal direction
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills are required
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively present information, both in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Strong ability to maintain confidentiality is a must
