Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

 

*This position is a full-time onsite role, that will be located at our main offices in Lathrup Village, MI.

 

As an Instructional Designer you will work with subject matter experts (initially our mortgage team) to design and update e-learning and blended curriculum (i.e. ILT, web-based training, on-the-job training, small discussion groups, etc.), define learning and performance objectives, and perform occasional instructor-led training programs and Train-the-Trainer for a variety of learning initiatives and system rollouts, as needed.

 

The Instructional Designer develops instructional materials and tools including but not limited to instructor guides, PowerPoint slides, job aids, and participant workbooks for instructor-led courses; storyboards for web-based courses; and training evaluation instruments (Levels 1-3). The ID will engage internal talent in order to provide resources for continuous learning and to collaborate with a diverse group of team members and business leaders while supporting the company culture.

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Proven experience applying the ADDIE model and in creating participant-centered learning
• Conduct needs analyses to ensure all training materials are highly targeted to the needs of the audience
• Analyze metrics to identify additional training opportunities
• Validate understanding of performance objectives for training via shadowing, interviewing SMEs, and reviewing current documentation or reporting
• Provide clear expectations to sponsors, SMEs and other stakeholders using internal project management tools, material review meetings, working sessions and project status updates
• Manage project expectations and schedule through creation of design document and project deliverable tracking file
• Produce training deliverables aligned with performance objectives and customer expectations
• Make design and content changes to existing deliverables based on best practices and industry standards to improve training effectiveness
• Shadow business units on a regular basis via observation, interview, and/or other methods, gathers information about the performance support and/or training need
• Create and maintain file structure throughout the project
• Create assessment tools to measure the knowledge of the learner at the end of the training, engagement of the class, and performance
• Seek training evaluation and feedback to continuously improve training programs and material
• Act as a backup to trainers for facilitating initial, ongoing, and continuous improvement training for various roles, if needed

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

 

Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design or related fields
• Excellent computer proficiency including the ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), email and internet
• Experience conducting needs analysis and creating effective evaluation models
• Communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written formats
• Proven success serving multiple clients and managing multiple projects simultaneously (Mid-level)
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience designing job specific training (Mid-level)
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience creating, designing and developing learning materials
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience managing a learning management system
• Seek training evaluation and feedback to continuously improve training programs and material
• Develop content including technology announcements, surveys, and more
• Analyze metrics to identify additional training opportunities
• Strong attention to detail with a service-oriented mentality
• Ability to work effectively as a collaborative team with diverse groups/audiences, including those in remote locations
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to build trusting relationships

 

Preferred:
• Master’s Degree
• Background in Retail Mortgage based environment
• Prior experience writing and updating policies and procedures
• Experience designing self-paced online training solutions, not limited to systems training
• Experience with CBT software i.e. Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, or comparable programs

 

Knowledge and Skills:
• Strong understanding of instructional design and performance management principles
• Ability to recognize and communicate training and non-training performance opportunities
• Adept at working within constraints including but not limited to aggressive deadlines, changing requirements and limited resource availability
• Self-driven, motivated to help, and able to perform with supervision in a team environment
