Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for attending community events and providing resources to become a trusted business partner, in the communities we serve. Engage existing business members by anticipating needs, building relationships and providing products/services to align with their needs. Actively prospect new business relationships to grow our business memberships and promote the Credit Union.

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Becomes the trusted advisor to business members, including the areas of small business lending, and deposit-based solutions.
  • Builds relationships within the branches, holds in-person business meetings and educates team members on how to have business conversations.
  • Generates business member leads and relationships through community relationships and business development efforts.
  • Maintains up-to-date pipeline of referral sources, business contacts, and existing and potential business member outreach efforts.
  • Produces a high volume of business loan applications with business underwriting partner.
  • Uncovers needs for our members through quality business cash flow conversations.
  • Develops relationships from business to personal needs, to become the member’s only financial institution.
  • Actively promotes our business partners by increasing awareness and engagement (i.e. Wealth Management Group, Michigan First Insurance Agency and Michigan First Mortgage)
  • Utilizes sales, referral, and services skills to respond to the needs of members, vendors and team members in a timely and professional manner.
  • Prioritizes business calling with ongoing daily activities.
  • Follows up on new business leads within one business day.
  • Attends community functions to develop business relationships. Represents the Credit Union at various events including trade shows, league functions and performs public relations at civic and community events, when necessary.
  • Serves as a liaison to community and charitable organizations, educational institutions and develops partnerships with those entities to build and enhance the Credit Union’s business and image.
  • Coordinates and conducts Michigan First seminars, Community Events and the delivery of Michigan First Foundation checks.
  • Becomes/is an advocate of The Michigan First Way, supporting all facets of it, including complete fulfillment of Our Promise, 5 STARS Service, SOLVE IT and our ISMs. Fosters a positive demeanor and image through professional representation in all contacts with both, team members and members. Consistently reflects and displays each of our “ISMs” in daily job performance, as well as in all business interactions while executing on our goals and initiatives. Learns and utilizes EMEC (Every Member’s Experience Counts) in day-to-day responsibilities when communicating with members only.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree desired, and two to three years of public speaking, sales, and/or public relations experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be creative and self-motivated. Must be organized with the ability to coordinate multiple events and projects.
  • Previous experience in business banking and community relations/development is required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common credit union industry events, journals, financial trends, and consumer-oriented issues.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from members in addition to members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to senior leadership, public groups, and/or Boards of Directors.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer with strong skills in Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to maintain project management programs.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to travel, including overnight stays, using team member’s personal vehicle.
  • Must be able to work outside of normal business hours.
  • Must be very personable with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must demonstrate willingness to do all that is needed and required of the role and seeks additional responsibilities.
