Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

 

This role provides administrative support to the human resources team as needed, including record keeping, file maintenance and assisting with the payroll/benefits and recruiting/selection functions.  Provides support on a range of tasks, assignments and projects.

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing general administrative support for the entire Human Resources team
  • Onboard new team members and process their new hire paperwork, create name badges, order business cards, and other onboarding activities
  • Responsible for I-9 documentation verification, compliance with federal guidelines, and maintenance of the records
  • Create and update team member personnel files
  • Submit pre-employment background checks, drug screens, and personality assessments for completion
  • Compiles and maintains records for use in team member payroll and benefits administration.
  • Assist in payroll/benefit administration and recruiting/selection functions as needed
  • Assists in the planning and execution of team member appreciation and team learning events
  • Develops initiatives to enhance our team member wellness program
  • Respond to team member inquiries in a timely manner while providing outstanding service.
  • Complete Verification of Employment records for former or current team members
    Performs other duties as assigned 
  • Becomes/is an advocate of The Michigan First Way, supporting all facets of it, including complete fulfillment of Our Promise, 5 STARS Service, SOLVE IT and our ISMs. Fosters a positive demeanor and image through professional representation in all contacts with both, team members and members.  Consistently reflects and displays each of our “ISMs” in daily job performance, as well as in all business interactions while executing on our goals and initiatives.  Learns and utilizes EMEC (Every Member’s Experience Counts) in day-to-day responsibilities when communicating with members only.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Previous exposure with working in a human resources or office work environment
  • Hands on experience in HRIS/payroll software and applicant tracking systems is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to handle numerous details
  • Excellent computer skills, including all Microsoft Office programs
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Must represent Michigan First in a positive and professional manner
  • Diligent work ethic
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Ability to multi-task & handle complex situations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
