    JOB SUMMARY:

    • Plans, directs, and coordinates the marketing and communication of the organization's products and/or services, activities and events by performing the following duties personally or through team members and/or external resources to grow the credit union, ensure marketing strategies are appropriate/successful, meet goals, expand member relationships and increase member engagement.

     

    KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  

    • Establishes marketing goals to support and contribute to credit union goals, while expanding member relationships and increasing member engagement.
    • Interacts with members and visits branches on a regular basis to ensure our marketing strategy and efforts are aligned with members, credit union and branch needs.
    • Develops and executes marketing plans and programs, both short and long range, to ensure the profitable growth and expansion of credit union's products and/or services while expanding member relationships and increasing member engagement.
    • Researches, analyzes, and monitors financial, technological, demographic and behavioral factors to capitalize on growth opportunities.
    • Manages the activities, deliverables and events detailed within various programs and sponsorship agreements.  For example: Detroit Red Wings, Young & Free Michigan, Detroit Pistons, WSU Athletics and more.
    • Plans and oversees the organization's advertising, events and promotional activities, including print and direct mail outlets while adhering to branding standards.
    • Assists with public relations and communication needs.
    • Identifies and manages the relationships with outside resources/vendors (for example; advertising agencies, printers, writers, graphic designers and others) to create and implement marketing and promotional campaigns.
    • Participates in the development of pricing strategy for the credit union and ensure the credit union is competitive and maximizes member benefits.
    • Achieves desired results and directly contributes to pre-determined marketing and credit union goals.
    • Assists with the creation of the marketing budget and effectively manages the allocated dollars to maximize results and return while meeting objectives and goals.
    • Evaluates market and member engagement with advertising programs, marketing tactics, promotions, events and activities.   Ensure needed and timely adjustments of marketing strategy and plans are completed to meet changing market, organization needs and competitive conditions.
    • Recommends changes in basic structure and organization of the marketing group to ensure the effective fulfillment of objectives assigned to it and provide the flexibility to move swiftly in relation to marketing and credit union needs and opportunities.
    • Implements market and member surveys on current products, services, and preferences and uses results to help management plan new initiatives in product offerings, service policy, and delivery methodology.
    • Works closely with the Digital Manager to ensure all marketing activities, promotions, events and campaigns are also communicated via digital, video and social channels. Assists with digital marketing as needed.
    • Prepares marketing activity reports for management; including, but not limited to:   marketing trends, environmental scans, new member campaigns, tracking reports on member behavior as related to product usage or signing up for new services, shared sentiment of members with regard to service satisfactions.
    • Becomes/is an advocate of The Michigan First Way, supporting all facets of it, including complete fulfillment of Our Promise, 5 STARS Service, SOLVE IT and our ISMs.  Fosters a positive demeanor and image through professional representation in all contacts with both, team members and members.  Consistently reflects and displays each of our “ISMs” in daily job performance, as well as in all business interactions while executing on our goals and initiatives.  Learns and utilizes EMEC (Every Member’s Experience Counts) in day-to-day responsibilities when communicating with members only.
    • Other duties, as assigned.


    LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Directs a variety of team members, as business dictates in the Marketing Area.  Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing concerns and resolving problems.  Demonstrates a commitment to our “Leadership Code of Conduct.”

    Qualifications

    • A degree in Marketing or comparable field of study and a minimum of three years’ experience as a marketing leader; or the equivalent combination of training and experience. Financial institution experience is a plus!
    • Strong leadership skills with a minimum of three years leading a team and the ability to mentor, motivate, inspire and coach team members to perform at the very highest level. 
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others at all levels both inside and outside the credit union.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to details and editing capabilities.
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common credit union industry events, journals,   trends (financial, demographic and behavioral) and consumer-oriented issues. 
    • Creative and self-motivated, with the ability to create, coordinate, produce and deliver an effective marketing program in a timely manner and fully meet  the challenges that exist at the time and are fully aligned with the marketing needs of the credit union. This includes effective skills in time management, project management and multi-tasking.
    • Ability to respond to common inquiries or concerns from members, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
    • Experience managing relationships with third-party and vendor resources. For example; agencies, mail/print vendors, designers and more.
    • Ability to effectively write content and copy (presentations, speeches, articles, blogs and more) that conform to prescribed style and format; Ability to effectively present information to senior leaders, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
    • Outstanding mathematical and analytical capabilities. Strong understanding of financial analysis and the financial services industry.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of marketing trends and data presented in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and a sense of urgency.
    • Exceptional technical orientation and understanding of software such as spreadsheets, word processing, graphics, design and print parameters.   MCIF and CRM understanding and experience are a plus!
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on a daily basis.
