  • Responsibilities



    Responsible for a variety of human resource functions with key focus on processing payroll, benefits, compensation, 401(k) administration & compliance report.




    • Process bi-weekly payroll in ADP for our salaried and hourly, full time and part time employees ensuring the accuracy of data entry.
    • Maintain payroll log, update team member information accordingly to meet payroll deadlines. Compile and maintain records for use in team member payroll and benefits administration.
    • Responsible for creation and distribution of HR related monthly reports; overtime, headcount, vacation liability, data reports for various teams.
    • Process all team members changes (ex. new hires, terminations, qualifying events, pay changes, etc.)
    • Works with leaders on leave/time off policies and accruals.
    • Answer team members inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.
    • Responsible for benefits administration to include adding, changing and deleting team member information (Blue Cross, Delta, CIGNA, and Fidelity), reviewing for accuracy, liaison for managed benefits, participating in the renewal process and open enrollment.
    • Responsible for 401k administration to include adding and changing team member information, transferring of funds, notifying newly eligible team members during open enrollment, and year end compliance.
    • Prepare and file reports as required by regulation, credit union policy, or benefit providers.  EEOC, 401(k) reports, and workers’ compensation reporting.
    • Administer and track all leaves of absences including FMLA, STD, LTD, workers’ compensation, etc. 
    • Responsible for responding and following through with all unemployment claims and potentially attending hearings.  
    • Process verification of employment requests.
    • Ability to meet all deadlines prior to due dates.
    • Create new ideas or promotions to enhance our team member wellness initiatives, as part of our over-arching commitment to benefits.
    • Becomes/is an advocate of The Michigan First Way, supporting all facets of it, including complete fulfillment of Our Promise, 5 STARS Service, SOLVE IT and our ISMs. Fosters a positive demeanor and image through professional representation in all contacts with both, team members and members. Consistently reflects and displays each of our “ISMs” in daily job performance, as well as in all business interactions while executing on our goals and initiatives. Learns and utilizes EMEC (Every Member’s Experience Counts) in day-to-day responsibilities when communicating with members only.

    • Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in Human Resources or other business-related degree.
    • A minimum of 3-5 years of previous HR experience, which includes a background in compensation, 401(k) and benefits is required.
    • Strong hands-on experience in ADP, payroll and time-tracking system, is required.
    • Strong background and knowledge in compliance reporting and 401(k) administration and benefits.
    • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products is required, especially Microsoft Excel.
    • Ability to communicate clearly with team members and team leaders by phone, in person, or through written correspondence.
    • Ability to multi-task & handle complex situations, while providing solutions.
    • Ability to perform duties with minimal direction.
    • Strong organizational skills are required.
    • Attention to detail is a must.
    • Ability to effectively present information, both in one-on-one and small group situations.
    • Strong ability to maintain confidentiality is a must.
